We move earth in southern Costa Rica

Since 1996, with 17 units of our own. If it's a landslide, we're there the same day.

In the video: our Hidromek 140 LC-3 cutting a new road, August 2026.

What we do

We don't subcontract machinery. What you see on this page is what shows up on your land.

A road isn't judged the day it's handed over. It's judged three rainy seasons later.

How a road gets built

Opening the way is the easy part. What decides whether the road lasts is everything after.

  1. Opening the way

The excavator cuts the hillside. This is where the width, the grade and the drainage are decided.

  2. Hauling the spoil

On steep ground the tracked dumper goes where a wheeled truck can't climb.

  3. Gravel and compaction

The stage people skip to save money, and the one that gets a road through the rainy season.

  4. And the road stays

Roads we opened twenty years ago are still in use.

The Rojas family, Barú de Uvita

Constructora JODYDOP started in 1996 in Barú de Uvita, and it's still there. When you call, you talk to the person in charge of the machine. No middlemen.

The crew is local. They're the same operators as always, and several have run the same machine for more than a decade.

Common questions

What does Constructora JODYDOP do?

Earthmoving, opening and graveling roads, slopes and landslides, land development, and equipment rental with operator, in Osa, Pérez Zeledón and anywhere in Costa Rica. It is a family business based in Barú de Uvita since 1996.

Can you prepare my lot to build a house?

Yes. We open the access road, cut and level the building pad, put in drainage and gravel the road, so the builder can start on solid ground.

Where do you work?

Our base is in Barú de Uvita. We work every day across the Costa Ballena (Uvita, Dominical, Ojochal) and Pérez Zeledón, and anywhere else in Costa Rica when the job calls for it.

Do you handle landslides and emergencies?

Yes, we go out the same day. All 17 units are our own, so we never wait for someone else's equipment.

How much does it cost?

Most jobs are quoted by contract, for the whole job. When you rent a machine it is charged by the hour: the excavator is ₡50,000 per hour with operator, IVA included. Dump trucks are charged per trip, not per hour. Moving the machine to the site and the place where the material is dropped off are charged separately. Send the location and a few photos on WhatsApp to +506 6166-8803 and we'll give you a price.

What are your office hours?

Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Do you rent machinery?

Yes, always with an operator: excavators, backhoes, a dozer, a grader, a vibratory roller and dump trucks, including tracked dump trucks for steep ground.

Are you insured?

Yes. We hold an INS work-risk policy, so if an operator gets hurt on your property it's covered, not on you. We are also a registered SICOP supplier and current with the CCSS and Hacienda.

Who answers when I call?

With Olman Rojas, the founder. There is no call center; he usually replies the same day.
